Three days after its anniversary date we gathered at the Hastings Town Clock to publicly acknowledge and celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Modern State of Israel. It was not the best timing at 3:00 PM on a Saturday. We would have preferred the Sunday lunchtime as it would have guaranteed a stronger turn out of people after coming out of Church. However, the Hastings Council would not permit us to meet on the Sunday because of another event taking place. Nevertheless we still counted a hundred people in the Hastings CBD plaza precinct and we were glad we were able to declare from our city the truth!
