HASTINGS VIGIL – 7 OCTOBER 2024

IMG_4814

A Vigil was held at the Hastings Town Clock on Monday evening 7 October 2024 from 7-8 PM to commemorate the tragic attack on southern Israeli towns and villages one year ago. Some 230 people gathered to mark the occasion which was run by the Flaxmere Christian Fellowship, Iwi Tapu Destiny Church Hastings, and Revive Church Hastings. Others gathered too as did members of the Jewish community. A car-load of people came all the way from Gisborne, while others travelled from Waipukurau and Te Puhoi. It was a solemn and respectful time of honoring the memory of those slain on that day and those taken captive into Gaza. A sea of blue and white Israeli flags flying in a strong westerly breeze mixed with the LED candles glowing in the fading light and backed by the singing of “I will bring them back home” meant that every heart was touched by the occasion. The Vigil stood for a minute of silence in respect of the victims and prayed for the release of the hostages, for peace to be restored to the region, for the innocent Palestinians caught up in the conflict, and put the blame squarely on Hamas and Hezbollah who started and continued their attacks on Israel on and after October 7, 2023.

  1. Well Done Nigel n Team Destiny!!
. Photos a bit small and I’m unable to forward them to friends. We attended the Vigil lead by Brian Tamaki at Britomart, Auckland. A good crowd-despite the horrendous wind. My overseas Israeli friends are pleased. God Bless, Brenda

  2. Good for you for this respectful and God honouring vigil. Wonderful to stand with Israel and to show that there are many that support and love her.
