Green MP “From the River to the Sea”

Gharaman

On Saturday 15 May 2021 a series of synchronized marches took place throughout New Zealand, commemorating what they call Nakba Day (15 May), the day that followed Israel becoming a state in 1948. In their eyes it was a catastrophe for the Palestinian people (in actual fact the catastrophe was created when Arab armies invaded Israel as a newborn state and tried to destroy it). They were also protesting against Israeli “aggression” in Gaza. It was promoted by the Palestine Solidarity Network in New Zealand.

In Auckland some Green MP’s participated, at the forefront of which was Golriz Ghahraman. Her comments over recent years prove to show that she is anti-Israel and anti-Semitic. Her comments also show her to be naïve and uninformed. She claimed recently that Jesus was a Palestinian, and now she has joined those who are claiming Palestine “from the River to the Sea”. This is part of their popular chant “from the river to the sea Palestine will be free”. The river is the Jordan on Israel’s eastern border, and the sea is the Mediterranean on Israel’s western border. They have used this chant in the past with a map in the form of a traditional Arab keffiyeh confirming that in their ideology there is no room for a Jewish state at all:

I am disgusted that a New Zealand member of Parliament would support such a rally and today I sent out the following:

PRESS STATEMENT BEGINS:

Golriz Ghahraman (Greens) led a small contingent of Green Members of Parliament to a large protest in Auckland on Saturday and chanted “from the River to the Sea Palestine will be free”. The chant is a euphemism for the elimination and destruction of the only Jewish State—Israel. In doing this Ghahraman and her associates were allying themselves with the tyrannical Iranian regime whose military, religious, and political leaders have been declaring for decades that they intend to wipe Israel off the map. Golriz Ghahraman has called for the removal of Israel. The Flaxmere Christian Fellowship and its supporters throughout New Zealand call for Ghahraman to be removed from Parliament. We call on Members of Parliament to condemn her association with the Palestinian Solidarity Network’s protest on Saturday 15 May 2021.

  1. It is disgraceful to see Ghahraman and other Green MPs publicly calling for the destruction of Israel. Our government’s policy is to find a peaceful negotiated solution to the conflict and support an Israel – Palestine two state resolution. It is commonly believed, as touted in the media, that the impediment to the two state plan is Israel’s intransigence over settlements on the West Bank. But the real problem is the Palestinian refusal to recognise Israel as a sovereign state, and their determination to destroy Israel, as stated in the PLO constitution, the Palestinian National Charter. The Palestinian Authority, the PLO, Arafat, Abbas and co. have repeatedly refused to accept a resolution when offered virtually all of the land they demand: the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) and East Jerusalem, and walked away from negotiations in 2000 and 2008. Their real agenda is all of the land for Palestine, as stated in the chant, “from the (Jordan) River to the (Mediterranean) Sea” and nothing for Israel.
